Adult Education
Old First Presbyterian Church believes in nurture, growth, and learning in the faith for all ages. It is our mission to grow spiritually as informed Christians, where young and old, both laity and clergy, find opportunities to engage scripture and practice spiritual disciplines and where faith journeys are shared and supported.

An Introduction to Old First’s Library

Old First has a high-quality library of more than 1400 books consisting of a wide variety of theological materials.  Ranging from Bibles to commentaries, prayer books to reference materials, the library is a valuable resource for many interests, including resources for small group study, satisfying your curiosity on Biblical questions, or getting inspiration for delivering the prayer in worship.

Sunday Adult Education Series

Each Sunday morning we will pick a theme examining what it means to be a Christian in today's fast-paced world.  These classes are taught by staff members, congregation members, or outside speakers.

Adult Education Opportunities at Old First Presbyterian Church
Adults come together to learn from each other, share their life experiences and be challenged to continue to ponder the mysterious working of the Holy Spirit in our lives.  Here at Old First Presbyterian Church we offer a Sunday morning Adult Education class from 9:30-10:30 a.m. where we offer a variety of studies that include Scripture and special topics that help us to live out our Christian faith in a challenging world.

Our teachers come from within our congregation, staff, as well as visiting teachers from the larger community and church.  This year we are utilizing many short term, Biblically based studies from The Thoughtful Christian (www.thethoughtfulchristian.com) which is a web based, downloadable adult study resource available by subscription from the Presbyterian Distribution Center.  Some of the topics we have already covered are: Immigration, Gratitude, The Emergent Church.
