The Inter-Faith Food Pantry

The Inter-Faith Food Pantry provides an accessible neighborhood food source for SF Food Bank clients. Each Saturday, one of five host churches uses Old First Presbyterian Church to provide a week's worth of groceries to around 300 of the city's families. The churches use funds they raise to buy protein and rice or pasta from the Food Bank’s resources, to add to the abundant variety of donated produce.

The Food Pantry needs volunteers on Saturday morning, beginning at 7:30 to unload the Food Bank truck, and set up the distribution and guide the 300 guests. No training or clearances are needed – though we do carefully follow the city’s mandates and CDC guidelines for health safety.

Distribution starts at 9:00, and finishes not later than 10:30. We then clean up, wrapping up not later than 11:30. As a bonus, we have free parking validation stickers to give volunteers who park at the Old First Garage on Sacramento.

During Covid-19 volunteers under 60 are welcomed. Send your questions to foodpantry@oldfirst.org.
