Interfaith Food Pantry - January 10, 2015
Old First was responsible for providing the volunteers needed for the Interfaith Food Pantry, Saturday, January 10. We welcome your help with this important and rewarding contribution to our community. Contact saturdaymeals@oldfirst.org to volunteer.
January and February, 2014 - Community Dinners
On the fourth Saturday of every month, we serve 150 - 175 homeless or marginally housed neighbors. Volunteers serve our guests and then join them for the meal and conversation. Come help serve people who can really use a good dinner - you'll be glad you did! Contact saturdaymeals@oldfirst.org to volunteer.
January 20, 2014 - Martin Luther King Day March
A dozen Old Firsters joined a couple of thousand others marching from CalTrain to Yerba Buena Garden for speeches remembering Dr. King and reflecting on his legacy and still-unrealized dreams. The march commemorates the 1965 Selma-to-Montgomery march for voting rights. Pastor Maggi welcomed marchers to Yerba Buena Gardens (where SF’s MLK Memorial is), kicking off the speeches and celebrations on behalf of the SF Interfaith Council, of which she is currently Chair.
December 08, 2013 - 25th Anniversary of Pastor Maggi Henderson's Ordination
We celebrated the 25th anniversary of Pastor Maggi Henderson’s ordination as a minister, with a fine party after worship on December 8. Festivities included brief speeches, gifts including a beautiful new purple stole, a reunion of the entire Pastor Nominating Committee that brought Maggi to Old First, and a surprise appearance of His Holiness Pope Francis (courtesy of clergywomen in Maggi’s Preaching Roundtable). We hope she’ll spend her next 25 years with us!

Fifteen members and friends of Old First, led by pastor Maggi, joined thousands of others in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day “Renewing the Dream” march. The mile-and-a-half march ended near the King Memorial Fountain in Yerba Buena Gardens, with a prayer service organized by the San Francisco Interfaith Council.
