Stewardship
Sharing God's blessings.
Though abundantly blessed as a congregation with people, financial resources, a beautiful building and parking facilities, we constantly challenge ourselves to provide a level of programming and care that exceeds our resources. With a diverse program usually associated with larger congregations, Old First members unselfishly give of their time, talents and resources, in some cases, performing work which normally falls to paid staff.
Why I Give To Old First: This is a series of statements from members of Old First about why they give. Learn why other individuals call Old First their home congregation.
Stewardship Update
by Jean Olson
Old First Presbyterian Church is sharing the grace of giving! Our pledges as of January 21 come to a total of $273, 449 for a 4% increase over last year's total at this time despite five fewer pledging units.
More good news! 56% of those who pledged were able to increase their giving for a total increase of $17,323. Twelve people who had not pledged last year have made the commitment this year. It would be so great if I could report an even higher amount at the Annual Meeting on February 5.
Some who gave last year have not yet given. Remember, it is never too late to give!
I also would like to remind everyone that we need more people to write a paragraph or two about "Why I give to Old First". Visitors and others have told me that these statements help them to see the people of Old First in a different light. Your statement will appear as an insert in the bulletin on the second Sunday of the month and then the following month in Shared Life.
You may bring your statement to me at church, mail it to the church addressed to me or send it to me by e-mail (jean.olson@ ucsf.edu). Everyone is invited to participate. It is a way for us to explain what the community at Old First means to you.
We want Stewardship to become a part of your life that helps you on your faith journey throughout the year.
