God Be In My Head
God be in my head and in my understanding:
God be in my eyes and in my looking:
God be in my mouth and in my speaking:
God be in my heart and in my thinking:
God be at mine end and at my departing.

Among the poor, among the proud,
Among the persecuted,
Among the privileged,
CHRIST IS COMING TO MAKE ALL THINGS NEW.
With a gentle touch, with an angry word,
With a clear conscience,
With burning love,
CHRIST IS COMING TO MAKE ALL THINGS NEW.
That the kingdom might come, that the world might believe,
That the powerful might stumble,
That the hidden might be seen,
CHRIST IS COMING TO MAKE ALL THINGS NEW.
Within us, without us, behind us, before us,
In this place, in every place,
For this time, for all time,
CHRIST IS COMING TO MAKE ALL THINGS NEW. Iona Community |

O God, all over the world Jesus finds the lost and dines with sinners.
All over the world are those like Zacchaeus, who want merely to glimpse Jesus but find their lives transformed.
The burden is on us now; we are among those who murmured against Zacchaeus, resenting Jesus’ invitation to his kind.
We confesses that we think tomorrow Zacchaeus will be back to his old tricks, forgetting promises.
We confess that we really don’t want the outsider, the needy, the hopeless sitting next to us in the pew.
We confess that sometime that it is us and we don’t believe God can really love us, that people would really welcome us if they knew who we truly are.
(Let us confess silently)
But in Jesus’ eyes Zacchaeus regained full stature
Lord, forgive us. We fail to recognize that your love can change lives.
Enable us to responds to your surprising blessing, not our low expectations.
Amen |

Turn the face from my sins and put out all my misdeeds.

Service of Bread and Wine |
All are invited to come forward down the center aisle to receive bread and dip it in the chalice. The chalices contain white grape juice, except the gold one held by the pastor on the chancel, which has red wine. Those wanting brief prayers offered for healing and wholeness or other concerns are invited to enter the Children's Chapel off the sanctuary, after receiving Communion. Clergy and elders there will pray with you; there will be anointing with oil for those wanting this ancient symbol as part of the prayers. Prayers for wholeness and healing will continue in the chapel while the service continues. |

During the service of the elements everyone is invited and encouraged to sing hymn #581 “Holy, Holy, Holy” |
