You can come at 7:30 to set up or 8:15 for distrubte food.   While this group started with five chruches-Old First, St Lukes Episicopal, Calvary Presbyerian, St Mark's Lutheran and First Unitarian most of volutneers these days come fromt the community.   An added benifit is how the food pantry has become a place to meet neighbors, form community, and get to know people who make San Francisco an amazing city.  If you have a compassionate heart, strong arms, and you are able to be on your feet all that time, please come. We need 30 people a week.

Community Dinner, every 4th Saturday

Once each month, of the fourth Saturday, Old First prepares a hearty dinner with dessert for neighbors living nearby, including those who are forced to live on the street.  We cook and serve the meal to our guests seated at tables. We need volunteers to prepare, to serve, and to clean up.  Most volunteers work from about 4:30-6:30 on the fourth Saturday and get to know new friends living on the street. If you or your group would like to prepare a special mean for our guests, the church can supply you with an honorarium to help pay for the food.

How to Volunteer for any of the activities at OFPC

Old First members, friends, and visitors can put faith into action in many ways”from a few hours to an ongoing commitment. Our community ministries make a direct difference to our neighbors, and always need volunteers, the Food Pantry on Saturday mornings, and the Community Dinners every fourth Saturday. Members also participate in special mission projects and service opportunities such as the Interfatih Choir concert that raised over $4000 for earthquake relief for Turkey and Syria in 2023.   Please see the program descriptions under the "Our Progams" tab above and individual program sites for more information.

Church members and friends also volunteer in many ways within the congregation including helping in the church office, ushering for worship services, leading worship, creating sanctuary artwork,  teaching and leading classes, video streaming worship, helping with  the website, cooking community meals, light building maintenance and ushering at Old First Concerts.

We would love to have you help make our community a better place!
